(Note added 2008: This version of Komi, and this website, are now very very old and obsolete, and are mostly left here for historical reasons. The more serious version of Komi is at komi.sf.net.)
This is the homepage for (the old, METAL BASIC version of) Komi, a freeware Mac arcade game by Allan Crossman. It was written way back around 2003 or so, when I still programmed in BASIC instead of something more serious like C.
System Requirements:
Komi should work on OS 9 with CarbonLib, or OS X. A reasonably fast machine (by 2003 standards) is required, however. It's OK on my 333 mhz machine, and may be OK on slower machines, but under (say) 233 mhz it's likely to be dodgy.
Note added 2004-04-29:
I've begun work on rewriting Komi in C using the cross-platform Simple DirectMedia Layer for graphics and sound access. Development is going on on GNU/Linux, but hopefully I might get it working (via SDL) on Mac OS X and Windows as well. Maybe in a month or two.
Update added 2004-07-04:
Version 1.0 of the SDL version is out in source form at komi.sourceforge.net. If you've access to a GNU/Linux box, or are experienced enough with OS X to compile an SDL app on it, give it a try and tell me how you get on...
Reviews:
See the humorous contrast between the Versiontracker reviews (really positive) and the Download.com reviews (mostly negative).
